What You Will Do

We’re looking for a skilled Senior Backend Engineer with expertise in Node.js to build and optimize our scalable services. You’ll play a crucial role in shaping our backend architecture, collaborating on a tech stack that includes AWS, Docker, and CI/CD pipelines, and enhancing our platform’s performance and security.

Work with a team of engineers to build out the backbone of our platform, today primarily written in Ruby on Rails. Conceive of and deploy improvements to the architecture of the platform and overall processes and systems and coach the development team on best practices and help them grow along with the company.

Our goal at Velory is to have a well tested and well architected platform to build upon for years to come and this role will have a large impact on how we best accomplish this.

Required Skills

• Extensive Node.js experience (5+ years) and TypeScript skills.
• Experience maintaining and improving upon large code bases
• Postgres
• Fluency in English, both written and spoken.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Eagerness to learn and a proactive attitude.

• Ruby (on Rails)
• GraphQL
• AWS
• Experience leveraging AI to become more efficient.
• Prior knowledge of transitioning or modernizing backend architecture.
